A page counter is an element in a WWW page that displays the number of times a page has been accessed ("number of hits") since the counter was created. Here's an example of a page counter (enclosed within two horizontal rules).
Page counters provide a great way to keep track of the number of accesses to your pages. To increment the counter above, simply reload this page.
Whether you wish to add page counters to your pages will depend
on a variety of factors. If you get lots of hits, a page counter can
make your pages seem more impressive. If you get only a few hits, a page
counter can be somewhat embarassing.
