Once you've created your web, placed it online, publicised it, and responded to the initial burst of activity, you can breath a sigh of relief, but not for too long. If you're using your web as a vehicle for promoting a product or service you'll need to keep updating the web so that it is fully integrated with the rest of your organization's activities. Even fairly static webs require periodic maintenance just to remove material that has been shown to be incorrect or out of date.
Unfortunately, there's a tendency for individuals and companies to get excited about the web, create a web, and then move on to other things. This can happen even in small Internet marketing enterprises that rely entirely on their web to sell their products. The contrast between the excitement of launching a new web and the tedium of updating an old one is so high that as a result, the Internet is full of "old webs"!
This page addresses issues involved in the ongoing management of a web.
