If you're a manager, don't be afraid to grant access to the Internet/Web for all your staff. Some managers believe that if they grant access to the Internet, their staff will spend all day surfing silly websites and playing chess with people in Norway.
In fact, this does happen for a while, but it's mainly because
people are getting used to and testing out the new technology. Once
the get used to it, they get back to real work and use the new
technology to enhance their productivity.
