WebHints: Surfing: Document Date

Many webs list at the bottom of each page, the date that the page was last updated. This is useful and is to be encouraged. However, it's very easy for people to forget to update this information when they make a change. Also, many pages do not provide such a date.

If the date of a document is important to you, you can obtain another indication of the date of the document by displaying the page in Netscape and then selecting the View.Document Info option. This displays the date the file containing the document was last modified. It displays lots of other information too.
